Walks

Latest news - the first walk leaflet has now been published. It is a circular 4 mile walk from The Red house to Hollington Lane and Highclere Street.

There are many excellent walks around Highclere through a variety of scenery - quiet country lanes, woodland, fields and open vistas on the chalk downland. The walks group of the Society is currently embarking on a project to find out about your favourite walks in the locality and share them with others. The clumination of the project will be a description local walks both available on this website for downloading and also available in hard copy.

Do you have a favourite local walk?

We are hoping to reflect in the leaflets the interests of our members and draw on your knowledge of our area. So our vision of the final product is not a standard footpath leaflet but one which tells something of the history and what you might see along the route whether it be, say, buildings of interest, buzzards, deer or wild daffodils in spring.

How can you help?

If you have a favourite local walk, would you be willing to share it? If so, we would love to hear about it.

Next step?

The leaflet (PDF file) Favourite Walks provides a guide as to the information we are looking for.

You can submit your favourite walk(s) in one of two ways:

If you would like to add a sketch of the route or a picture or two that would be great.
