Pride in our Parish
Your committee has buried 360 daffodils in clusters along the Andover Road from the Penwood cross roads to the Yew Tree!
There will be more next year as this is the launch of a new programme to demonstrate and promote a pride in our Parish.
Kevin Pearson has agreed to chair a sub committee to develop a program of projects over time to tidy up, brighten up or enhance our image.
One of Kevin's ideas is to build white painted five bar gates either end of the Andover Road to form 'village boundaries'.
He is keen to hear from anyone who is willing to assist in any way however modestly in taking a pride in our Parish.
Please call Kevin on 01635 253 975.
Highclere Castle Estate Enabling Development
Your committee would like to thank all the 110 members who replied to our consultation and voted as follows:
- 19. I support the BDBC policy on Enable Development as it stands as I am happy that I would then be able to consider individual planning applications as they came forward in the normal way.
- 74. I do not currently support the policy but I might well if it were more specific and included the outline planning applications to be made with a commitment by BDBC to accept low density development and spelt out the local resident benefits to be offered.
- 17. I am totally against the policy so I reject both the above.
We have decided not to second guess what the other 136 members thought as there could be many reasons for those members not voting.
The committee will therefore now frame its response to BDBC in line with the clear wishes of the voting majority.
We will suggest ways that the Estate and BDBC could make the Policy which is currently unacceptable more acceptable to the majority of our members.
This issue has raised great divisions amongst members and indeed the committee itself.
Many have written pages of comment thus we urge all members to make their views known direct to BDBC before the revised deadline of 21st December.
